Here is why we require that exhibitors have their own paid hosting account...

This is an online gallery for professional artists & craftspeople who are serious about presenting their work on the WWW. We have found since we started in 1999 that the websites that go offline the quickest ~ or are essentially abandoned and never updated ~ are the ones that do not have their own paid hosting account. These sites use so-called "free hosting" (such as GeoCities & Tripod), then simply re-direct their domain to that address. Since so many of them become dead links, we regrettably can no longer accept those submissions.

So for example, if you are directing www.YOURDOMAIN.com to something like http://home.comcast.net/~yourname, then please wait until you get a real hosting account (you can find many professional hosts for under $35 per year at sites such as FindMyHosting.com).

FYI, another reason to avoid "free hosting" for your own website is because [a] search engines do not like them, and [b] some of them insist on inflicting constant popup windows and/or ugly banner ads on the viewing public, and there are few things that will drive traffic away from your work more quickly than that sort of nonsense.

ps. The free hosts are fine for practicing your website building skills, but when it comes time to be serious about your online marketing, you'll find that a paid account is the best way to go, and as stated above, hosting fees are now extremely low.
